DR. BRENDA SANDERS DÉDÉ

success at Texas A&M, Kingsville.
DR. ELIZABETH PAUL (College of New
Jersey) is the new president of Capital
University. She previously served as
executive vice president and provost
at Stetson University, as provost and
professor at the College of New Jersey,
as faculty at Wellesley College, and as
a research associate at Harvard. Paul
is a graduate of Boston University and
also served as president of the Council
on Undergraduate Research.
DR. RONALD NOWACZ YK (Clarion
University) is the new president
of Frostburg State University.
Formerly the provost and vice
president for academic affairs at
Clarion, Nowaczyk also served at
the University of New Haven, East
Carolina University, and Clemson
University. He is a graduate of
Northwestern University and Miami
University of Ohio.
DR. JAMES MICHAEL SMITH (Bowling
Green State University) is the new
president of Eastern Michigan
University. Previously the president
of Northern State University, he
also served at Bowling Green,
BGSU Firelands, Indiana University,
West Texas A&M University, and
DR. JERRY E. MCGEE (East Carolina
University) retired after 23 years
of service as president of Wingate
University. At the time of his
retirement, he was the longest serving
college or university president in
North Carolina. Previously, Dr.
McGee was vice president of Furman
University, Meredith College and
Gardner-Webb University. He
is a graduate of East Carolina,
Appalachian State University and
Nova Southeastern University.
DR. KAREN KONARSKI-HAR T (Arkansas
State University) was elected
vice president of the American
Chiropractic Association. She is the
first woman to hold that position.
DR. DIANE CHASE (University of
Central Florida), is the University of
Nevada, Las Vegas’ new executive
vice president and provost. She held
the same job at the University of
Central Florida. An archaeologist,
she is a graduate of the University
